Foundation Safety And Rescue Training (FSRT)

Join us to develop your safety and rescue skills at the beautiful Talkin Tarn Country Park.

The British Canoeing Foundation Safety and Rescue Training, FSRT, introduces key skills to enable you to paddle safely and deal with common emergencies in a sheltered water environment. The training provides the basis for safety and rescue training throughout the British Canoeing Awards.

Candidates wishing to attend Foundation Safety and Rescue Training must meet the following requirements:

  • Able to swim in normal paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing conditions
  • Candidates must also hold the Paddle Explore Award, 2 Star Award or be of equivalent ability due to the paddling environment and the boat control required to complete the course

As a competent paddler, we expect you to dress according to the conditions. You will get wet due to the nature of the training.

Included in the cost of this training is use of our boats and paddles, PFD and helmet, and access to warm showers and changing rooms. Please contact us in good time if you would like to arrange hire of a wet suit (£7 per day).

Bring a packed lunch or money for the tea rooms.

Parking at Talkin Tarn is in a Council controlled car park at £2.25 per day.
