The Gift That Keeps On Giving!
We think our Talkin AWESOME Adventure days are the perfect Christmas present for kids aged 8 to 14. It's a day packed with fun where they learn to kayak, toast marshmallows and explore life around Talkin Tarn - and that's just the start!
But if you're still not sure, this might help you decide…
There's something a bit special about gift experiences
Most of the time you're shopping for someone you love and care about; someone who has real interests and passions (even those little folk who don't really understand that concept but who can make you laugh when they tell their tales of thrills and wonder from their imaginary play).
Choosing an experience that you know they will love and laugh about for many months afterwards is far more stirring than some PJ's and another computer game! Here's a link to one of our previous blog posts that tells the story of a Talkin AWESOME Adventure Day to answer your burning questions about the events.
Experiences last longer!
How many gifts from last Christmas can the children recall opening? Or the year before?
Stuff fades but experiences and memories grow sweeter with time. What was your first concert? The most vivid memory of play from your childhood? Your favourite game to play with friends after school?
One of my favourite memories is building dens at the bottom of the garden with huge blankets, then being eaten alive by midges with my sister and cousins! It took most of a summer's evening before we were called in for bed, and was a very simple thing but I've carried the memory since the 1980s.
Experiences build friendships
Material gifts are mostly often only useful to those receiving them. Experiences are not only shareable but are maximised by sharing them with others.
Imagine the stories they will tell on their first day back at school about the fun they had in the holidays. They will be the first to put their hands up and regale their classmates with creative stories of adventure, canoes, exploring, belly laughs, splashing around and probably more toasted marshmallows!
The friendships they form can last much longer than their adventure day. We even have some children who met on an event last year who have booked further events together and brought their families along too!
Experiences can make a difference
During December 2018, we are donating 10% of the profits of our AWESOME ADVENTURES bookings to Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice.
We think it's a great a way to ensure your Christmas shopping choices last way beyond the festive season!
