Independent Adventure Ltd. began as a mobile event management company run by husband-and-wife team Darren and Robyn Morgan. From our base at Talkin Tarn Country Park, near Carlisle, we organise events and activities in Cumbria, the Lake District, the North East and Scottish Borders. We often travel further afeld with our fun outdoor entertainment ideas. We specialise in providing team building activities for unique corporate events, extracurricular activities for schools, stag do activities and fun ideas for hen parties.

Established in 2011, we began by providing event entertainment activities in the lake district. This led us into corporate event planning, unique wedding entertainment ideas and providing schools with their adventure activities.

In 2017 we expanded and began to provide water sports and boat hire, operating as Talkin Adventures at Talkin Tarn Country Park, Brampton.

In 2020, of course, Independent Adventure and Talkin Adventures were hit hard by the pandemic restrictions. Like all outdoor adventure centres in the region, events with large groups of people from different households were impossible to run and we had to adapt to a world where infection control was the priority, once lockdown restrictions began to ease.

In residential activity centres where rock climbing, ghyll scrambling, canyoning and raft building in large groups was the mainstay, it must have been very difcult. Independent Adventure were lucky because we were able to adapt our archery, sit on kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding to operate in small household or “bubble” groups. We have also been fortunate in being able to continue to work with schools and youth groups throughout this time.

We look forward to the day when we can welcome you back to some sort of normality. Will that be one of our team building events... on site in large groups? Soon hopefully, we will be able to visit you once again at some of the delightful venues we have partnered with for some more challenging, fun flled, corporate away days.

School users have been able to make use of our support in providing young people with the outdoor experiences throughout the pandemic. These experiences help to restore the social skills that have been curtailed by the need to stay away from other people for so long in such short lives.
