Activity Instructor 2024 (Trainees welcome)

*Position filled* - we may have freelance opportunities and will be recruiting again for 2025

Could you help us deliver fantastic experiences for our visitors this year?

Do you have a great personality and professional work ethic?

We need YOU! We're offering an opportunity to work with our awesome team for the 2024 season, helping us to deliver some fantastic activity experiences and assisting with boat hire and activities for our visitors. This is a mixed instructor role, is based outdoors and you will be meeting some brilliant people.

As a seasonal position, from April to October, you will work approximately 30 hrs each week, on a flexible rota including Saturdays, Sundays, and School Holidays.

You will earn from £10.80 per hour (or NMW), with paid holidays etc. (Rate negotiable if you already have relevant NGB instructing qualifications and experience)

You will gain a First Aid Qualification, RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling, DBS Check, Uniform, and in-house training. You will also gain an Archery GB Instructor Qualification and we will mentor you to become a certified British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor/Leader, with plenty of opportunities to develop within the outdoor adventure industry.

You will be reliable with a great personality. You will need to be over 18 years old for licensing reasons. You will have a reasonable level of physical fitness for this active role.

General Assistant 2024 (Trainees welcome)

*Position filled for 2024*

As a general assistant, you will focus more on the day to day running of our activity centre. Duties will include operating our boat hire service, preparing for activity sessions, meeting and greeting clients, and performing basic maintenance tasks.

As a seasonal position, from April to October, you will work approximately 10-14 hrs each week, on a flexible rota including Saturdays, Sundays, and School Holidays.

You will earn from £10.80 per hour (or NMW), with paid holidays etc. (Rate negotiable if you already have relevant NGB instructing qualifications and experience)

You will gain a First Aid Qualification, RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling, DBS Check, Uniform, and in-house training.

Perks include use of our equipment and plenty of chances to develop with our instructors.

APPLICATION

If you like the sound of what we're offering, then we would love to hear from you!

We are only able to accept applications from candidates who will be 18 or over at the start of training (March 2024). We are looking for hard working individuals with a safe, fun and positive outlook. The role is pretty physical with lots of moving of canoes and kayaks etc., but also very fun and rewarding.

You must be able to reliably travel to Talkin Tarn Country Park. Talkin Tarn is our main base but we also travel around the county and sometimes further afield.

Main duties will include assisting with activity sessions, and taking on more responsibility for the running of sessions as you grow in confidence and training. You will also be involved in the running of our busy boat hire service and shop during school holidays and weekends.
